Try applying the EAP with the Performance Boost and allow it to sit for a few hours and then go over it LIGHTLY with a gray scotchbrite pad (just a quick once over with very little pressure) this is what I did at your shop with the Ecoroc samples th…

Moxie 1800 is a liquid silicate, as Alla stated, and not a polymer, in the same class as most of your surface densifiers used routinely in the polished (concrete) floor industry. Moxie (and other silicates) acts as a pozzolan (such as fly ash, silic…

Never managed to become very accomplished at chess so I avoid it in all forms. Seems your Simstain would not "take" well between sealer coats to me; wouldn't it be better off on the raw surface? Are you using a stencil of some sort?

10-15% for referrals from designer showroom. They supply customer with some preselling/ground-breaking, then turn them over to me. Billing through designer, which is where they get their markup (my price stays the same)...

Cool beans. Good to know that we are all on the same page. The viewpoints and atitudes expressed by Godin, among others, are the new world of business and marketing. If you are going to succeed in the modern marketplace, you need to get up to speed…

I am posting a link to a very recent blog entry by one of my favorite modern business gurus concerning precisely that subject - pretty cool coincedence - this is aimed at b2b but read through the lines and it makes complete sense: How to be a great…

I know that Red Concrete does some great work but I don't know the guys there. You have some nice tops here. I am a general contractor getting into more decorative concrete one client at a time.

Sounds like a plan. We just started using the new UV sealer & are still trying to get the bugs out of it. There has been some great advice on this forum in regards to application, but still a work in progress. If you are ever in the area give us a holla and you can see it in action. Costly but less headaches down the road.

I get what you are talking about. I have used various methods myself and have made a simple urethane ramp mold as well as rubber plugs for slot drains. I'd be more than happy to ship you the mold for the urethane slots if you wanted to pour a few and send it back. A friend has a cnc router and helped me out with that one. Really pretty neat. I like the acrylic technique and I think thats what I will employ this time. How many shims to you morally use. 1 on each side and maybe one or two in the middle of the ramp?

Rich,
Since it had a hollow core, I lag bolted about three 2x4s, one by one to the face of the framing. I then bought six Heavy duty L brackets attached to the framing on top and bottom of 2x4s anchoring into both the fireplace frame and the protruding 2x4s. Once I was confident it was secure I dry fit it and then took it back of silicone the hell out of the top sides and back of the mantle. Proped a board under it for a day and I was done.

Thanks that was an excellent explanation. I think I read that somewhere about the nautilus but didn't recognize that the application could be applied as such. Thanks.
