Very, very COOL. I like the "glaze". It really looks like fired clay.

Now that's a bug hole! Something like that happened to me once but with a cat getting into my sand bin. Enough said.

It's alive! Growing buildings is a great concept. Kind of like a coral reef or stalactite.

Hey Buddy,

cheers for writing that book - i love trying to replicate the pressed technique, although i have to use my own mix design due to being in the UK

I too went there to be a potter- ended up in the sculpture department, mostly welded steel and wood. I was there '84 to '88. After tooling around the country for a handful of years i ended up in the concrete business (commercial) with my brother (who is also on this forum) in Ohio. I came to Washington a few years ago. Regular contracting work has been my bread and butter, but I've been trying to put my old artistic training to work these past few years with some concrete stuff. Glad to chat with you- I've always admired your work, and really appreciate what you have done for artisan concrete.

Brandon's workshop was nice and I took away a new technique and some cool tricks ...wish his class was only 15(20+) as it was advertised would be my most constructive negativity...I still think 10 is the magic # for many reasons, plus it feels like 5 more are there with my commentary in the background.Brandon is a leader and I think he will do well as he is very dedicated. The guys Paul and Jeremy that are with him are godsent.........................................As I am sure you know, it was ash with smoke fill on your page...I am about to do another that is the same, not my choice, but thats what they want.... I am also doing part of the fireplace to pull the room together...we shall see..it will be my most creative project to date.I did 2 integrated sinks in Hawaii last week before heading to pheonix that turned out great...will send pics soon....going to spend another week in Hawaii to gather myself...you know us creative artistic types need to meditate on waves to get the most out of our cells...hehe....I met Mike Karmony of stone soup at Brandons workshop...i love that guy...I think you would enjoy his prismatic(but black and white) insighful, right hemisphere dominated dialogue immensely..hope to get to see you soon.

thanks buddy,
i still think there are two different sizes of scrim for the 10x10 tommy with absolute concrete works and hi have two different ones. and the scrim the jim r sent was the thicker stuff. it didnot bend 90 very very but was great on flat surfaces i am still looking into it. the new roll i got a few days ago was the same as tommys:(

hi buddy,
you can shoot it with the normal stealth fiber and a little plasticizer i am not sure which one you use down there. i have had great luck with super sealz from bluewater.com enflow, reobuild, and a few others so far i am really digging the sealz. a 4 lb is a gallon size and only takes a few table spoon or two (drypigment) to change the slump on the mist coat sparingly so it still cling to the side wall. and more in the backer coat to help level the surface easier inconjunction with the bubble buster rollers small-large. i get the first 1/4"-3/8" in there bubble bust. i place the scrim and mag float in andshoot a thin mist coat to encapsilate it get another backer coat on top and another layer of scrim, mist coat and backer and final mist coat for the top of the mold. i just did the podium yesterday and it is fun going 3'6" in the air and 11' feet long not a quick as a top but we got everything in and within 1"-1 1/8" we got four layers of scrim and fiber is one shot. i will be vertical stamping it today and then transporting it for the home show. monday. i need the extra strength because of transporting and moving it with my bobcat and i put in thread rod and eyeloop anchor bolts to attach it to the straps to lift it i also bent the thread 90 degree to embed strength for the lifting point. let me know. the scrim i got from jim r and he gets is from mike with n.e.g.a.

hi buddy,
the mix went well. i drilled out my hopper gun to a plus 1/2" hole and maxed the air so i didn't have any problem shotting it even with the larger agg. i also prescreened it just to make sure there wasn't any clumps. did you substitute the polymer for the polyplex in the mix? i am making a new podium for the seattle home show next week with fiber optics i am shooting tomorrow. with both the stand and top all gfrc then i will be vertical carving the front and sides i will post the photos sometime next week during the show. are you hand pressing and shooting it into the mold. did you know you can also layer it with 1/2"x1/2" scrim and cross layer it for even more strentgh? i am working a a kitchen i just started making the molds for i have a few small ones to first. then a 14'6'x42" with an arch. i have a whole pile of stuff and agg going into it with fiber optics and a few surprises. do you know what happened to the share page on your site i couldn't find it? i let the office admin know. talk to ya later
