The Social Network for Professional Concrete Artisans.
I will write more later. Need to pickup my grandchild.
However, I want to let you know that I do appreciate all of you, and I want nothing more than to help this industry. We have some problems, but we will come to an an understanding, with your input. There are problems and I want to put this to rest right now.
Best Dave.

John, we need to talk on the phone sometime.
Like many of you I have had enough of this arguing on the forums, and with your input, we will put this to rest today. We are trying to establish some relationships here in the industry, I know that I wouldn’t be friends with most of you without CCF. I have tried several times to help direct business to each of you by attempting to establish a directory of fabricators. I have always wanted CCF to add some value for you and your business. I want you to know that I have a responsibility to CCF as an entity and I will delete comments that are disparaging to CCF. I’ve spent a lot time building it, and yes my pride is involved. Thousands of people are viewing these forums, potential clients, potential advertisers, concrete professionals, and do it yourselfers. Having the conversation look like a junior high fight is not in anyone’s interests except people that would be delighted by the demise of CCF. So, those remarks will be deleted, and you can scream censorship if you like, I’m sorry. We are here to talk about concrete and yes, have fun, not destroy what it is. At least I am.
I can understand that you get tired of the newbie questions. Please be patient with them and you do not have to answer the questions. Every sponsor listed on this forum depends on the newbie’s for sales of training and products. And the truth is some in this industry do try to make a buck off of the do it yourselfer as well. Tommy and I are working to add value for you, we do appreciate you. I myself have nothing to sell, the opportunity has been there but out of respect for the advertisers I have not tried to compete with them. However, there was one advertiser that pulled out completely because I offered a mix design spreadsheet for sale. To this day, I scratch my head over that.
Please if you have a problem with the forums and me, send me an email or call me. Honestly, I am not here to exercise power over you and delete your comments, that’s the last thing I should want to do. But I hope you understand that I believe trying to keep the conversation professional is more important then your right to marginalize CCF, or other members in a public forum viewed by thousands of people.
I have never said derogatory things about any of your businesses please show CCF the same courtesy. I’m sorry if I have upset you in anyway. I do not have hard feelings towards anyone.
Best Dave

Permalink Reply by John on February 13, 2012 at 3:57pm Dave, get through this personal time first, then we can deal with CCF. This is not the time. It is hard to be level headed with such grief on your shoulders. Take a break and the forum will survive without you for a few days.
Cheers!
Permalink Reply by Derek Peters @ Origins Concrete on February 13, 2012 at 4:58pm I really don't have a problem with this forum at all. I am in on it more than twice a day because I feel a kinship with others on here. I hardly learn something new most of the time, but every once in awhile someone shares a really good idea. I think the reason for a lot of bickering is twofold: newbie questions and those who want to share freely/and those who don't want to. I was recently turned on to another forum that wasn't concrete specific. It had a really good way of promoting pertinent information. I think the reason why there are so many newbie questions is because it is hard to index the answers they are looking for. With this other forum (I won't mention it by name), comments people make are prioritized by the members. If the comment or post is pertinent, members vote it up to the top and the posts that are more personal or irrelevant to the topic stay at the bottom. This way newbies would have a better way of getting the information they desire and not have to sift through all the posts on that topic, and therefore, not have to ask the same questions. Dave has said in the past that this forum is limited by the ning network, so maybe this type of system will not work. I was just wondering. My condolences to you Dave. Please don't feel this has to be remedied now.
